Tamdhu Single Malt Scotch Whisky is aged exclusively in Oloroso type barrels, made of European and American treated oak.
In 1898, the founders of Tamdhu obtained their first precious delivery of sherry barrels from Spain. Now, 120 years later, Tamdhu is celebrating its history with a campaign that provides a fresh insight into the process of producing sherry barrels that it uses today exclusively.
Only 5% of all Scotch whisky production is matured in sherry barrels, which are among the rarest and most expensive available. Only the best European and American oak barrels are chosen for the maturation of Tamdhu alcohol.
These barrels are treated with Sherry Oloroso specially chosen from the famous triangle of Sherry Jerez for a period of two years. After two years these barrels are emptied and transported to the Tamdhu distillery and filled with our precious new alcohol.
These sherry barrels are the best in the industry. The highest quality is essential to give Tamdhu its natural dark amber color.
